The BPS Arts Expansion Fund is supported by collaborating donors including the Barr Foundation, The Boston Foundation, Hunt Alternatives Fund, Klarman Family Foundation, Linde Family Foundation and other foundations and individual donors. The Fund is administered by EdVestors on behalf of its donors. This school year over $800,000 in grants are helping to expand arts instruction to 8,000 students in 50 schools.
Microsoft Word versions of the guidelines for the Arts Expansion Fund and results from this year’s BPS Arts Inventory will be available for download by Wednesday of next week. A PDF version of the 2012 GUIDELINES is accessible so you can begin thinking about your application.
In its fourth year of grantmaking, the Arts Expansion Fund continues to evolve to advance the goals of the Arts Expansion Initiative. In response to the evolving landscape, this year the Fund will seek to support programs that expand, sustain, and deepen arts learning opportunities for BPS students. The Fund will continue to prioritize grants that contribute to increasing the number of students receiving arts instruction in schools that are not yet at the goal of 100%. For returning grantees, the Fund will consider supporting arts expansion programs that build in strategies that increase the sustainability of the effort. Lastly, for schools who are meeting the benchmark of reaching 100% of students with arts instruction, proposals to deepen the arts opportunities for their students through culturally relevant offerings and additional disciplines will be considered.
An information session for this year’s Arts Expansion Fund grant programs will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 3:30 to 5:30pm at EdVestors, 140 Clarendon Street, 2nd floor in the Kuumba Library. Garage and limited on-street metered parking is available. Accessible by the Orange Line, Back Bay stop or the Copley stop on the Green Line.
